Victorian Corset ^_^

This is going to be a very quick post with a bunch of photos :)

Class started up again on monday and since then I have made one corset and started on a pattern for another.  Because I am going to school for costume design it is only fitting that I learn to make the actually garments (and undergarments) that create the lovely silhouette for each period.

The first corset has 3 layers of fabric(coutil, coutil, fashion fabric)
All 32 pieces of coutil cut out and waiting for the last layer of fashion fabric to be cut out.

Once the pieces were cut out, I flatted the fashion fabric to one layer of coutil to strength it.
Then I started sewing the pieces together :)

Pieces sewn into ¼ bodies

Some pattern matching ^_^

After that I started preping for the instalment of the busk :)

Lining it up and marking the opposite side for the placement of the knobs.

I didn't take as many progress pictures for this one, but I will have more for my second one.
All the bones waiting to be filed and placed.

So many grommets and 5 meters of lacing.

Before my mini photo shoot :)

 And the finished shot :)

I will hopefully have some more pictures going up soon for detail shots but for now I will leave you with these :)

Titanic is being Rereleased in 3D

I just found out that Titanic is going to be rereleased in 3D this April and so a couple of friends and I are going to recreate costumes from the film...

and I get to do...

wait for it...

the Swim Dress ^_^

I found a a web page that goes into quite a lot of detail on how to actually make the dress right down to how to Ombre it.

I will be making a Corset for this dress as well, and lucky for me
"Bridges on the Body" is hosting a sew-a-long for an 1911 under-bust corset

Corset and Dress

The corset is almost finished, all that is left to do is attach the straps than I am done.
So I have started the mock-up/petticoat(don't like to waste fabric) and it is looking pretty good. I don't really have a pattern to follow for this and so I am using reference photos as a starting point.

As you can see there are quite a few great photos to choose from :)

Below is what I have going so far...

And here is my dress :D
This is mostly pinned together and there is only one sleeve so far... I am hoping this will be done by Thursday night so I can make the Spencer, bonnet, and shoes(and if I have time a reticule) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday...

Here is to hoping this works out.

Quilting...

Here is a look at what I have been doing these past couple days

Here is the outer shell of my corset.

Instead of using boning, I decided to "quilt" my corset.

Halfway through quilting the front

Almost done quilting :)

With Halloween just around the corner, and tons of sewing left to do.
I leave you with a short Good bye :)
I hope Everyone has a Great day.
